Brian Strawn, Owner

I was born and raised right here in Bellevue, Nebraska, and this community has shaped every part of my journey. My parents, Jim and Ellen, are my greatest heroes — they taught me to lead with humility, show up with integrity, and always give more than I take.

My path in baseball and education has taken me across ballfields and classrooms throughout Bellevue — and always kept me rooted in this community I love.

Coaching & Teaching Journey

  • 2006–2009: Assistant Varsity Coach at Bellevue East High School under Don Kiviniemi and Aaron Taylor

  • 2012–2014: Head Coach at Bellevue West High School, leading the program to its first state tournament appearance in over 20 years. I also taught 5th grade during this time at Leonard Lawrence and Bertha Barber elementary schools.

  • 2015–2023: Division I Assistant Coach at the University of Nebraska Omaha

Through it all, one thing has always driven me: the opportunity to help players grow on and off the field — to teach them not just how to play, but how to work, lead, and believe in themselves.

Why “Fungoes”?

The name Fungoes came from my wife, Sarah. She once told me:

“You always said you'd be happy just hitting fungoes all day.”

And she was right. The repetition, the rhythm, the hard work behind the scenes — that’s always been my favorite part of the game. It’s where the magic happens.

If you’ve spent time on a diamond, you know the value of a good fungo bat—a tool that helps coaches prepare players the right way. We chose the name "Fungoes" as a nod to the daily work that builds a successful ball player.

Home Base

These days, the most important team I’m part of is at home. My wife Sarah, and our two boys, Augie and Dawson, are my entire world — and you’re going to see a whole lot of them around the facility. This is a family-run space, and we built it to feel that way for you, too.
